There is a shortage of electricity in many parts of Vietnam, especially in the northern provinces where industrial parks are concentrated. Since early June, some industrial parks have experienced sudden power outages, causing factory production to be temporarily interrupted. Vietnamese media reported that the parks where multinational corporations such as Canon factories are located have experienced 24-hour power outages. In response, Zhou Xuezhi, an assistant researcher at the Institute of World Economics and Politics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, analyzed that Vietnam is an important link in the global manufacturing industry chain. If there is a problem in Vietnam, it may have a certain negative impact on the normal operation of the global industry chain. Biswa, chief economist of S&P Global Market Intelligence Asia Pacific, analyzed that as Vietnam is growing into an industrialized economy, the overall impact of power supply on the economy will be much greater than 10 or 15 years ago. Therefore, Vietnam’s economic prospects face greater challenges in the short term.
